Nuno Libório
Storyteller, Teacher, and Tour Guide in Lisbon
I discovered the aura around storytelling as I began to craft my very first stories to the school newspaper at the age of 9. I was a boy who literally grew up on the streets of Bairro Alto in Lisbon, symbolic not of a homeless boy but of a child who enjoyed the privileges of playing on the streets, which was considered normal during my childhood years.
Ironically after and during my early twenties, I became a salesperson, which further led me to consider being an entrepreneur. The twist in the making took place when I studied Theatre. From playing on the streets to being
a salesperson and studying Theatre could only lead to becoming a….Storyteller!!!
Later a postgraduate degree in Expressive Arts truly helped me to widen my horizon and perception towards creative processes of the mind, thought, and action.
At one point in time, I experienced a phase of “existential crisis”, during which I took up several psychological and personal development courses. However, it was an school of ancient philosophy that I drawn to embark on the in-depth path of self-knowledge and self-discovery.
Besides I like to shake the waters for which my associates pleasantly quip: what a nerve! to appreciate my adventurous spirit.
My stories talk about my life: the people and characters of my life in Lisbon. For example, can you sense the joy of knowing poet Fernando Pessoa who actually lived in my neighborhood? I still visit the same cafe he did in the last century. Storytelling I believe transforms experiences to be even more authentic. I look forward to every opportunity to create such an atmosphere whereby I could engage my eager audience to journey alongside or beyond my stories.
