Aisha Nyandoro

Jackson, Mississippi

Imagine a Sunday dinner table with lively back and forth conversation between generations of civil rights activists, political insiders, and social workers debating race, polictics, education, and social issues. These early dinner conversations helped Aisha develop a deep love for community and people. More importantly, they taught Aisha the delicate intricacies of community building; the need for the authentic voice of individuals being served to be included in the process of change. For over 15 years, Aisha has worked in various capacities - academician, evaluator, philanthropist and nonprofit executive. These varied experiences have allowed her to better understand systems and policies that impact vulnerable communities.

Aisha's life mission is to holistically and compassionately lift families out of cycles of poverty. Her work is delivering results through Springboard To Opportunities, an organization which provides families in subsidized housing with wraparound services to holistically lift them out of poverty. Remembering lessons learned from childhood, Aisha calls Springboard’s work “radically resident-driven” in that program participants’ real, immediate needs drive all program offerings. Aisha' vision is for a world without poverty, and Springboard's communities are providing the results to drive that vision forward.
