Nyla Hasan co-founded and was the visionary designer behind the Advanced Contemporary label, Eva Khurshid. Frustrated by a lack of fashionable clothing that transcended through a professional woman's lifestyle and driven by a shared obsession for fashion design, Nyla Hashmi and Fatima Monkush embarked on Eva Khurshid (EK) in 2008.
Nyla attended FIT where she received her BFA in fashion design, focusing on knitwear and art portfolio. During her college experience she earned design experience at Oscar de la Renta, Sean John and Armani Exchange. At ODLR she learned the value of high-end fabrication and craftsmanship that is reflected in EK today. Sean John and Armani Exchange provided an opportunity to understand the intricacies of building a mass-market business. To round out her expertise, Nyla developed her graphic and technical skills designing urban menswear at Coogi.
After graduating from FIT, she accepted a position designing sweaters at Elie Tahari, becoming a true perfectionist in detail-oriented designing. She uses this understanding to design the collections at EK. After her time at Tahari, she revisited her primary goal to solve the fashion void she experienced.
Nyla's story has been recognized and published worldwide, most recently in "I Speak for Myself" published this May 2011. Additionally, EK has been recognized in several published books including "Modest Fashion" by London College of Fashion's Reina Lewis. Nyla was also invited to the State Department as a Leader of Tomorrow and was extended an invitation to join "Generation Change", an initiative organized by Farah Pandith.
