Hi, I am Nylah A.E. Mitchum, a proud mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, niece, friend, teacher, and so much more. I have always held a special place in my heart for teaching children. Growing up in a household with a mother who is an educator , she instilled a passion in me like no other. After completing high school in 2016, I went on to attend college. I received my degree with a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Education from Texas Women’s University in Denton,TX, in 2020. I have been in education for the past 5 years, starting my career as a Special Education Paraprofessional within a behavioral unit. I enjoyed every minute of working with students who had a variety of needs. I have had the opportunity to educate and embrace 3rd-5th grade students in the subjects of Science(5th),ELAR(4th and 5th), and Math(3rd). I have also served as a cheer coach for 4th-5th graders for the past 2 years. I am a strong believer that a schools cultural climate is a key factor in teacher/student success, and because of this I am very active in contributing ideas to my campus. I have been able to implement fundraisers, conduct pep rallies, create calendars full of activities for The winter holidays and Valentine’s Day, put together our Black History Month Programs, and many more activities throughout the year on my current campus. My goal each year is to reflect, learn more, and continue to grow and a person and as an educator so that I can keep contributing to the growth of our future leaders. The greatest joy for me as an educator is seeing the excitement on my students faces when they are able to see their growth throughout the year.
