Ryan O'Brien

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Hello my name is Ryan O'Brien and I'm a hockey fanatic! GO LEAFS!!

I was exposed to the wonderful world of hockey during the epic 1992-93 play-off run of me beloved leafs and ever since then I was hooked.

I started playing the year after in St. Catheriens, Ontario and rememberd that I could barley skate but still managed to get some points and have some fun, which is what really matters.

I moved back to my hometown of Cardinal, Ontario (Population 800) where former NHLer Todd Gill and Hockey Hall of Famer Rusty Crawford, who is also my great uncle, are from. From there I continued playing hockey for the South Grenville Rangers for 14 years.

Half way through my minor league career I became a referee and it drastically changed the way I see the game is played. I refereed for 6 years in the ODMA/ODMHA district and I do regret leaving it behind.

Nowadays I am a passionate fan. I don't think I can go a day with out sparking up a hockey conversation. It's in my blood, so to all the hockey fans out there CHEERS and as always.
