Octavia Hirst

Hi, I'm Tavi. My favourite activity in the world is probably to learn new things, closely followed by teaching them. Having studied engineering, I appreciate the importance of good teaching in technical subjects. I am founder of SKILLAB, a pilot project to teach coding skills, and am working on various other education initiatives, including consulting with Pearson College.

​I've always been interested in the confluence between technology and behaviour, and am fascinated about the role of tech in improving lives. I was part of the runner up team in the EWB Pitchup competition, which was focused on using innovative tech to solve development problems, you can see the pitch video here.

I'm always looking for new projects centred around my areas of interest:

• Social enterprise and empowerment through economic independence
• The positive power of technology education
• Interdisciplinary and systems thinking - the strength of networked knowledge
• Redesign of education systems
