Olivia Devlin
Amherst, Massachusetts, United States
I am currently a student in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This is my junior year as a Hospitality and Tourism Management student, and although I am still exploring my many options, I've taken a special interest in event planning/management. I chose to come to UMass because of its big population and variety of experiences offered. I have friendly and outgoing personality, and being surrounded by people has always been something I've enjoyed. I have work experience in the hospitality field, being a server and being a supervisor at the UMass Recreation center. I enjoy being part of a team and being in an energetic environment. This quality about myself is what led me to get into the hospitality major; where I knew I would spend my time interacting with and helping others. Aside from that, my passion for traveling is what really solidified my career goals to be in the hopsitality industry. Knowing that there are many opportunities to work for organizations that operate internationally it what truly inspires me. All my life, my biggest dream has been to travel the world. I want nothing more than to personally experience cultures that are completely different than my own, and learn to adapt and live with new people and new surroundings. I have traveled as much as I could throughout my life, to many of the states, and on vacations out of the country- but my one dream has always been to study abroad in Europe. I will finally have the chance to do that next semester, and I also am planning a volunteer trip to South Africa for the upcoming year. I have always had an appreciation for art and nature and the outdoors, which is why I feel so strongly about seeing all the different beauty that the world has to show. My hope is to find a career where I am able to visit and live in different parts of the world. There is something about escaping from normal every day life and EXPLORING that makes me happier than anything else.
