Longtime Detroit resident Odis Jones earned his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University, where he studied sociology. He went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University. Odis Jones left the Detroit area to begin his career, serving as village administrator to the Village of Obetz in Ohio. As village administrator, he oversaw the establishment of a municipal utility, including the construction of electric four power stations, and investment in an $8 million sewer and water infrastructure expansion.

From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Jones served as president and CEO of the Columbus Urban Growth Corporation, a redevelopment agency tasked with attracting business and investors and inspiring growth in the City of Columbus, Ohio. By funding public-private partnerships and producing tax incentives, the corporation created thousands of jobs in the city.

Moving to serve as the director of real estate and economic development for the State of New Jersey. During his tenure, he oversaw real estate and tax credit programs that led to the creation of thousands of jobs in New Jersey.

Odis Jones later served as CEO of the Detroit Public Lighting Authority and executive director of economic development for the City of Cincinnati. He currently serves as managing partner for MVP Capital Ventures.
