Esther Maina

With an Environmental Science background and 6+ years’ experience, Esther is experienced in Environment, Marine Conservation focused on plastic pollution, ecosystems restoration, blue economy, and Biodiversity Governance. Notably, she has worked as an Associate Environment Expert in the private sector, as a consultant with the International Coral Reef Intiative, the International Training Centre of the ILO, and as a Youth Policy Advisor with the Sustainable Ocean Alliance. Currently, Esther serves as the Country Coordinator of the Kenyan Youth Biodiversity Network, where she provides strategic leadership and oversight on initiatives focusing on youth engagement in biodiversity conservation, policy, and advocacy, after previously serving as the organization’s Marine Action Coordinator. Her work seeks to inspire collaborative action that galvanizes integrated land-sea governance and coordinated protection of these ecosystems.
