Everest Wilhelmsen

My father and mother Kaare and Jean Wilhelmsen were married in India and were in Dargeeling when I was conceived, and they were able to see Mount Everest from there. This is one reason they decided to name me Everest. The other reason: "We want you to attain the highest goals in life."

I asked them what those goals were? Their answer, "To live for Jesus." This was also what my grandfather, Andrew E. Mitchell, meant when he wrote a little booklet called, "What Is the Greatest Question In the Bible?" The answer, "Can a man be profitable unto God."

NOTE: The picture above is of Mount Ararat and Little Ararat to the far right, both located today on today's border of Eastern Turkey and Armenia. Mount Ararat used to be entirely in Armenia and the entire area, including Lake Van, used to be in Armenia. The capital city of Armenia is Yerevan and is directly on the other side of Mount Ararat. This picture was taken on one of our trips from Norway to Afghanistan. We tried to drive across the border to go to Yerevan, but the Soviet Union border guards stopped us.

I was born in Los Angeles, California in a house I understand is no longer there. I have been told that a freeway now runs through the place I was born. Maybe that is why I love traveling so much, meeting new people and always looking for a new adventure.

My purpose in life is to fight illegitimate public "authorities," to confront those that oppress and enslave others, to lift up the downtrodden and the broken hearted.

For those of you who do not have compassion for the poor, enslaved and broken hearted, you will be counted with the ungodly and separated from God for eternity.

"The story begins in eternity past ...
