Julia Scatliff O'Grady

Julia Scatliff O’Grady is a visiting professor at St. Andrews University. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Her research focuses on the social imaginary of flight, and how the sky has become a public space that foster civic identities, practices, and beliefs. Her theoretical commitments to public memory, public address, and the dialectic of risk and safety are motivated by an abiding interest in inspirational discourse as it relates to deliberative civic action.
