Kelly O'Halloran
Teacher in Sudbury, ON
Foster community, embrace mistakes, inspire success.
Hello! My name is Kelly and I am an elementary school teacher. I discovered my passion for teaching through my passion for music. I enrolled in Laurentian University's Music and Concurrent Education programs and have since gone on to have a variety of teaching experiences. I have tutored students, taught private music lessons, taught in classrooms and virtually in Sudbury as well as in different First Nation reserves in Ontario. My two main passions are teaching and music (playing and listening). But I also enjoy creating cross stitch projects, playing videogames, swimming and exploring the outdoors.
My own experiences, passions, and interests have led me to develop my teaching philosophy. I strive to create a community of learners in my classroom that respect each other. I would like my students to listen to each other, support each other, and want each other to succeed. By modeling respect and providing opportunities to share their interests, feelings, and ideas my students will feel comfortable making mistakes in my classroom. Furthermore, I strive to give my students the skills they need, not only to succeed in my class, but also in life.
