The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), Office of Justice Programs, in the U.S. Department of Justice is Very Happy to announce That the 14th National Indian Nations Convention: Justice for Victims of Crime. The Convention will be held December 11 — 13, 2014, on the booking of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, California, together with the subject, “Generational Voices Uniting for Security, Justice, and Healing.” This year’s convention is once more coordinated from the Tribal Law and Policy Institute under a grant from OVC.
The intention of the 14th National Indian Nations Conference–the biggest U.S. Department of Justice sponsored Indian Nations convention, would be to bring together Native American victims, victim advocates, tribal leaders, victim providers, community volunteers, and prosecutors, judicial and law enforcement employees, family violence and sexual assault experts, medical providers, social services and mental health employees, probation/corrections, criminal justice and juvenile justice staff, in addition to national and state agency representatives to discuss their knowledge, experiences and tips for developing applications that serve the distinctive needs of crime victims in Indian Country.
