My name is Orla (Orlaugh, its Galeic actually Norwegien Viking adopted into the Irish culture), I am the youngest of 5 children born to Irish Parents. Ann and Joe (thats me Ma n Da) came to California in 1950 with basically nothing. Settled first in Hollywood the relocating to the San Fernando Valley. Da opened the shop "Kavanagh Motors" on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks and Mom stayed managed the household, taxi service, cleaners, day care, PTA activites tutor, team mom, dog walker, and everything else under the sun. All 5 of us went to SFV Private Catholic Schools. Despite having only one income my parents managed to afford a comfotable middle class lifestyle. We vacationed often renting sea side homes for months at a time or filling the motor home to max cap and camping out in Las Vegas Big Sur Mammoth San Fransico San Diego.......our friends were always included and everything paid for. We had the latest styles, electronic devices, took dance classed, had sailing lessons,frequented local ammusement parks, flew to Ireland to see our cousins, got are own cool (used) foregin cars when we turned 16 and recieved college degrees all because of their hardwork and generosity, Sadly both parents passed away Dad 1/1/2001 and Mom 11/17/2006. Thete is not a day that goes by where their prescnce is rIlost my job. Six months later I was evicted from my apartment by Slum Lord Nick R. I woke up to sherffs pounding on my door, by 8;30am I was rushing to my son Logans initial IEP meeting, by 4pm I was locked out and the U-Haul holding half of all of our personal belongings was towed and impounded. 4:15PM Wednesday March 13, 2011 first day HOMELESS.
