I am currently living in Canada but I was born and raised in the Douro Valley (Portugal), the land where the Port wine grapes grow.
My cradle was warm and comfortable but I was too curious, too eager to learn and too adventurous to stay in. So I had to venture out to explore the lands of this world and to study the stars up in the skies above.
When was a child I was not afraid that my theories would be rejected or accepted by a referee or a community. My experiments were inspired by my endless and unbiased curiosity. I experimented without fearing failure. I used to take things apart not because I wanted to destroy them but I wanted to understand them. The wonder of how and why everything worked drove to the pursuit of career in science.
As young scientist I was fortunate enough to travel and experience several work environments in different countries. My first stop was the land of tulips, cows, windmills and tall people. I moved to The Netherlands for my first internship at European Space Agency, more than a decade ago. I did not stop there, that was only the beginning a great adventure. I kept moving and travelling a lot since then: around Europe, South America and North America.
