Oliver Okumu
Oliver Okumu is PhD candidate at the University of Nairobi specializing in bean root pathogens of beans and again he is an assistant lecturer at the same University handling Diploma students teaching plant pathology course. In addition to classroom instruction, I have advised students on appropriate research topics and also in the laboratory work. For the past two years Oliver was taking his MSc in crop protection where he specialized in fungal disease of wheat called Fusarium head blight of wheat which as the potential of producing mycotoxins in wheat. During this period he isolated the various Fusarium spp that are responsible of the disease and again he did mycotoxins analysis where two mycotoxins were targeted (DON and T-2 toxin).
Oliver graduated with BSc of science in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi and has worked with the independent electoral and boundaries commission severally handling elections at the polling station level. Oliver specializes in plant disease diagnosis and recommends the right management action to be taken to avoid further losses inflicted by various crop pests.
