OLIVER L. ALVAREZ (Also known as PDRR Oliver, Kuya Oliver, or Sir Ola) is a graduate of De La Salle University-Manila with a double degree in Secondary Education and Liberal Arts. He started his career in the academe as a Researcher for the Lasallian Institute for Development and Educational Research (LIDER) at De La Salle University-Manila. He then taught high school communication arts and social living/global education at Southville International School in which he was given a Favorite Teacher Award and a Total Quality Management Award. He is currently the Center Operations Support Section Leader of Kumon Philippines, Inc. He is a Licensed Teacher since 2001. Oliver is a familiar face in the Family of Rotary having served as Treasurer of Interact Club of Philippine Normal University Laboratory School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila (where he was awarded the MOST OUTSTANDING INTERACTOR in RY 1994-1995 and 1995-1996) and Vice President of the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University-Manila, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manila in Rotary Year 1999-2000. In 2000, he joined other Lasallian Rotaractors and chartered the Rotaract Club of Manila which is also sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manila. He left a mark as its Eagle President when he was adjudged as the District 3810’s MOST OUTSTANDING ROTARACT CLUB PRESIDENT and for the club the MOST OUTSTANDING ROTARACT CLUB during Rotary Year 2001-2002. These outstanding achievements were instrumental in getting the vote of confidence of his fellow Presidents when he was elected as DISTRICT ROTARACT REPRESENTATIVE of Rotary International District 3810 in RY 2002-2003 leading more than 60 clubs and 1500 Rotaractors under the Governorship of Loving District Governor Rosie Go. He was awarded as one of Most Outstanding Delegates at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September, 2003 wherein he represented RI District 3810. Together with a group of students and the Rotary Club of Las Piñas West, he established and acted as the Moderator of the Interact Club of Southville International School, RI District 3830s MOST OUTSANDING INTERACT CLUB for RY 2002-2003. He also helped the Rotary Club of Alabang in establishing the community-based Interact Club of Alabang in 2004. During the whole month of May 2005, he represented the Philippines to Rotary International District 5360 (covering the cities and towns of Southern Alberta in Canada) as a member of the CENTENNIAL GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) TEAM of Rotary International District 3830 in RY 2004-2005 and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Las Piñas-West. He is a moving force in the pursuit of a united Asia-Pacific Rotaract organization. He was a Plenary Chairman in the inaugural Asia-Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference (APRRC) in Hong Kong (August, 2004) and has been an invited keynote speaker in the succeeding APRRC’s in Taipei, Taiwan (August 2005), Malacca, Malaysia (August 2007), and Singapore (November 2009). He was the Program Chairperson of the APRRC-Pilipinas held in the Philippines in August of 2006. he was the Asia-Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference Standing Committee Chairperson from 2008 to 2009. Oliver graduated from Rotaract last August 7, 2010 after 12 succesful years of Fellowship Through Service.
