Oliver J Anwyl (1992) from Warwickshire, United Kingdom is a freelance dance artist based in Chester whilst engaging in undergraduate studies in dance at the University of Chester. He takes a specific interest in choreographic enquiry, experimentation and analysis of dance compositional methods; both within dance and physical theatre frameworks.
Dancing since a young age, Oliver trained at the Leamington and Warwick Academy of Dance, completing examinations under the RAD, ISTD & IDTA with Vivienne Kibble and Hannah Butler. During his time at LWAD he was accepted into the schools company: 'Synergy Dance' and performed with the young company at Platforms, festivals and competitions including DanceScapes Bounce, and events across the country culminating in an international tour of Belgium in Summer 2011. Oliver was also a Solo Competitor in UKSKills Contemporary Dance 2009. Completing study at City College Coventry with BTEC Diplomas in Dance and Physical Theatre; he began undergraduate study at the University of Chester in September 2011.During his time at the University of Chester he has developed skills including Choreography, Improvisation, Somatic based practice, site specific work, dance production and technology. Oliver also performed in Cheshire Dance & Walk the Planks' Cultural Olympiad: 'The Moment When' in May 2012 with the University.
As a working Dance Artist both through independent practice and collaboration with other artists, creating work for live performance and screen dance. Applying for platforms and festivals with his own work and as part of collective projects. Launching his own professional venture in 2013 to create Flash in the Attic Dance Theatre. Oliver maintains a continued base of educational work through teaching the ISTD Syllabus of Modern Theatre and Imperial Classical Ballet. He is an international member of the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD LTD) and wishes to pursue promoting their work here in the United Kingdom. Currently teaching at Elite School of Dance (Buckley) and HEARTS Theatre School (Widnes) Oliver teaches in a range of community and vocational settings across the country including dance festivals and guest teaching in dance schools and colleges.
Over May & June 2013 Oliver will be in Melbourne, Australia working with Paul Malek's 'Collaboration Project', the Australian Teachers of Dancing and engaging in work throughout the city. August 2013 sees
