Oliver Sharma

Hi there,

My name is Oliver Sharma and I am a third year student currently completing a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences and minoring in general business at the University of Guelph. I love to play and watch basketball, cars, listening to a wide variety of music and travelling the world! My passion of basketball led me to play for my city rep team for 4 years and also play for my high school team, winning MVP in my senior year. The most interesting field of science to me is biology and health. Biology is very intriguing to me as the human body is so complicated and largely functions autonomously without us even thinking about it. I am also fascinated by astronomy as there is so much to learn about our never-ending world and the possibility of extra-terrestrial life. Someone that really inspires me in the science world is Elon Musk as he never sets a limit to his creativity and effortless work ethic. Elon Musk managed to always strive for more in hopes of changing the world while implementing his own wild interests. Elon also started Tesla, the electric car company and managed to create a very environmentally friendly and competitive, luxury brand. My current career goal is to be self-employed in a world where I can combine my interests in science, and passion for business. I am also quite passionate in sales and would like to pursue something in the sales industry such as pharmaceutical sales or selling cars. Most people don't know that I have worked as a microbiologist intern for Septodont Pharmaceutical. In this job I was tasked with maintaining lab management, and counting microbial colonies on growth plates. Additionally, I ran and managed my own franchise for College Pro window cleaning; while I was in charge of everything from hiring employees, to on-site management and recruiting cliental. From these jobs, I have learned many tangible characteristics that will aid me in my path to self-employment and carrying out my own ideas.
