Becoming the next soul songstress in the vein of Adele, Duffy, and Nina Simone is not an easy task -- but Olivia Castriota is up for the challenge. From the age of two, she was singing "tinkle, tinkle whittle tar" in her car seat. “I’ve never heard a two year old sing with such a perfect pitch!” her Grandmother exclaimed. She had no idea that her granddaughter was already grooming herself for stardom!
A Pennsylvania native currently residing in Brooklyn, Castriota is working hard to actualize her dream. From the age of 13, she was recording music with local musicians and performing at competitions all across the East Coast. “I can't remember a time when music wasn't a part of my life,” Olivia explains. “Growing up, I was really drawn to R&B and Soul and it shows in my writing and singing.” In college, she joined an Acapella group called Rhapsody and, while studying abroad in England, performed in various pubs, looking for the perfect opportunity to break into the music scene. It wasn’t until she moved to NYC that she landed her first big break: performing at The World Famous Apollo Theater for Amateur Night at The Apollo (3rd place winner) and at The York Fair Grandstand Challenge (hosted by Jamie Lynn Spears).
Having worked with 'The God Mother of R&B' Lil' Mo, Grammy nominated artists like Marky from The Ramones, Songwriter of five #1 hit songs Vlado Kolenic and with Hip Hop phenom Starchild, Castriota is ready to take her career to the next level. She recently completed and released her first album "All At Once" world wide and is planning a fall tour. “Music is in my DNA,” Olivia Castriota exclaims. “I want people to feel as passionate about music as I do. My life is a musical journey and I want my audience to share it with me.”
