Olivia Waite
Young Olivia was your classic overachiever with high potential, a good girl who followed all the rules and had not a rebellious bone in her body.
Somehow she grew up to be a contrarian feminist, a properly foul-mouthed critic, and an author of historical, erotic, and paranormal romance who would like nothing more than to take this opportunity to make a joke about rebellious bones. In Latin, for preference. Latin has a reputation for being a churchy kind of tongue, but in Olivia's experience the best reason to learn Latin is to discover the ancient Romans' gloriously filthy poetry. They have verbs for things we don't even know how to do in English!
As a writer she has a morsel of raw talent, which she is refining with craft and practice and sheer bloody-minded try-it-again-ishness. The process of improving as an author is maddening. And infinite. And there is absolutely nothing else she would rather be doing with her limited mortal lifespan.
Her first six published books were erotic historical romances, one of which was literally set in Hell because it seemed like fun at the time. Why write one genre when you have so many to choose from? Currently she is into historical fantasy in a big way, as well as sff short fiction and the odd poem or two.
On her website you will find infrequent, in-depth posts about literary tropes, critical analysis, and industry developments. One of these posts was included in Speculative Fiction 2014, which still makes her blush with pride.
