Olivia Tigre

Newark, CA

I am a health science senior student at San Jose State University, plan to graduate in Fall 2013. My motivating force to pursue health is to one day create meaningful programs to help prevent unplanned teen pregnancy among Latino/Hispanic communities.

I recently became an intern for Tri-City Health Center, where I will be assisting health educators with resources and materials for adolescents within public high schools in the Tri-City area. Prior to this experience, I had the pleasure of being an intern for Vivamos Activos, a research study conducted by Stanford Prevention Research Center that focused on obesity among low socioeconomic Latinos in Redwood City.

Within my future, I aspire to become a health educator among adolescents from minority groups. I strive to collaborate with diverse individuals and communities to improve their quality of life.
