Olivia Annese

Cape Cod, MA

I am a Hospitality and Tourism Major in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I aspire to be an Event Planner, focusing on weddings.

Growing up on quaint Cape Cod embelished my desire in becoming an event planner. My most recent/current project is the NotWedding. This event is a staged bridal show giving the opportunity to vendors in the surrounding area to market their work and show what they are capable of. The NotWedding, New England is being held in Falmouth, MA with all Cape Cod Vendors. This is one of many projects that I am working on to gain experience in the field.

At UMass I am a brother of Delta Sigma Pi and serve as the Pledge chair. I am actively involved in several other clubs around campus: Best Buddies, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Hospitality and Tourism Ambassadors. I believe that being an active student in the community teaches me more about life and my future than some of the courses that I study.

As cliche as it may sound, learning from my experiences of community service and volunteering with these groups has been life changing. I've learned to appreciate and love my friends, family and the amazing opportunity to be at UMass studying something I love, so much more.

I am always looking for ways to get involved and opportunities to learn. I'm determined to become the person I want to be. Each day I learn something new about myself and how to achieve my goals. I believe that with each opportunity we are granted and each person we meet, we become better at mastering ourselves.
