My name is Liv but my family calls me Livy-Lumps! I am the only person in my family originally born in the South. I was even born on a leap-year! So technically, I am only two years old!! But since it's not a leap year, we'll celebrate for an entire week. Hey, that's just how my family does it - BIG!! That’s not the end of my story, though. I LOVE to read, write and draw and I LOVE everything to do about science.
I am the Founder and Editori-in-Chief of my school's very first 5th Grade Newsletter! The first issue came out in December and I am SUPER stoked! In this issue, I wrote about my love for science and aviation.
My favorite class last summer was “Shark Frenzy”. We got to dissect a dogfish shark! I was able to keep one of its babies in a jar in my bathroom. My mom is not too happy about the baby shark in my room but as long as it’s not in plain sight, she’s ok with it.
I also love airplanes and other machines. I am the only girl in the “Young Sparrows” group at the Aviation Academy. I'm studying about flight and how planes work! The best and scariest time was when I did my first discovery flight in 1964 CESSNA 172F!!! We flew over Six Flags Theme Park! Totally. Awesome.
For exercise, I enjoy my Hip Hop and West African dance classes. ~ And during my down-time, I can play on ROBLOX.com for hours!
My mom always tells me that I have to exercise my mind, body and spirit.
Reading lifts my spirits. Roblox makes me happy. Learning science challenges my brain. And learning cool dance moves at my dance classes gives my body a workout!
I guess I’m a kid who likes a lot of different things. I love that my life is very FULL!!
Recently I read about Mae Jemison. I was really excited to learn that she is the first African-American woman astronaut. She is also a doctor, dancer, and an actress. She was quoted as saying “In kindergarten, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I told her a scientist…" Mae Jemison is a big inspiration to me because she became all the things she loved. When I grow up I want to be a surgeon, technical artist, a marine biologist and a private pilot. I haven’t decided on which one, so for now I want to be all of them.
