Olivia Febus

Hello!! My name is Olivia Febus and I am a first year student at The Ohio State University.

My top 5 strengths are Developer, Relator, Positivity, Responsibility and Achiever. I was surprised to see that positivity wasn't the first on my list. I like to revolve my life and decisions around being positive. I think having a negative feeling towards things or being upset about something all of the time is a waste of time. I always get asked "are you ever in a bad mood?" and honestly there are very few times that I can remember myself being in a bad mood or having a negative attitude about something. It is just who I am and I like that about myself. I think being positive is a great quality that will help me a lot in my career. I want to be a kindergarten teacher which requires you to have a lot of energy and be happy because that is what kids need and like to be around.

I think its easy to get wrapped up in taking college day by day because when looking towards the future and imagining the final outcome can be stressful and scary. What I have learned during my first year so far is that as easy as it can be to stress about things, you can't let yourself get stressed. For me, I like thinking about the future when I get overwhelmed and forget why I am doing all the things I am. I like to imagine myself in my own classroom with all of my students and the good thing is that it's not that far away. Four years seems like a lot which is what I thought my first day Freshman year of high school and four years later here I am in college and I feel like I've blinked and high school was over.

My favorite OSU tradition would have to be Script Ohio. Ever since I was little I loved watching the band spell out Ohio on the field because I could never understand how they managed to make it perfect every time which is what I loved about it. Now that I am an OSU student it makes it even more special and it is my favorite part about games and always will be. Secretly I can't ever wait for the first half to be over because I know when it's over I get to see the band. Don't get me wrong, I love our football team but sometimes I get more excited about the band than I get about the actual game :)
