Olivia Irwin

Seattle, Washington, United States

Hi, I'm Olivia! I'm a Junior at the University of Washington in Seattle, the city I've had the privilege of calling my home since my family moved down from Canada (where I was born) when I was ten years old.

I'm currently pursuing a double degree in Human-Centered Design and Engineering and English, which I hope to complete in 2018. In the background photo on this page, you can see me teaching a design workshop with the HCDE department at my old high school, Roosevelt, this past Spring. I am also a student in the UW's Interdisciplinary Honors program and the English Departmental Honors program. This upcoming Autumn Quarter 2015, I plan to keep myself as busy as ever; in addition to classes in both of my majors and honors core courses, I will be teaching a section of General Studies 199 as a FIG (Freshman Interest Group) leader for a group of incoming students, and working as a writing adviser at the UW's late night CLUE (Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment) writing center. You'll be able to find me there from 7pm to midnight at least several nights every week, talking to students about their papers sustained by a shameless regimen of late-night coffee, alongside my normal propensity for being unreasonably energetic on little sleep.

My interests are extensive, including a hopelessly untamed adoration of video games, a massive soft spot for and books (thanks to my mother, who teaches English and Communications for a living) and an affinity for the textile arts. That being said, it's pretty hard to find something I wouldn't be interested in talking to you about; the most fundamental of all my interests is my love for learning about new things.

Thanks for visiting my about.me. You can find links to my LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages below.
