Olivia Fiedler
Teacher in Oakville
Hi, I’m Olivia. I'm excited to get to know all of you and collaborate with you in this learning space. Some of my interests include reading, volleyball, skiing, and singing. I also love spending time with my 4 nieces and nephews each week.
I graduated from the Queen's University Concurrent Education program in 2019 with I/S teachable subjects in English and French. Since then, I have completed additional qualifications in Senior Social Sciences and Guidance & Career Education Part 1. My undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Arts Honours (Psychology and French Medial with an English Teachable). As such, I have been able to share my passion for languages, cultures, societies, and discussing the human brain with my students. I'm also a big proponent of the importance of youth mental health and I have worked with jack.org in the past (a Canadian youth mental health charity that empowers youth to initiate conversations with other youth and spread awareness about mental health).
I will be returning for a fourth summer as a camp counsellor at Appleby Summer Camps. This year, I will be running the Creative Writing, Made By Me (a camp all about DIY projects), and Discovery French Camps (a French camp for kids ages 4-7).
One thing to know about me is that if I hadn't pursued qualifications in the Intermediate/Senior divisions, I would have gone on to become a Kindergarten teacher, so this course is allowing me to fulfill a long-term dream of mine. Looking forward to hearing your stories!
