Olivia Lau

Welcome. I recently received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the Department of Government at Harvard University. My dissertation examined the empirical determinants of individual freedom, using a large cross-sectional, individual-level survey data set from 36 developing countries from various areas of the world, and covering a broad spectrum of regime types. I defended my dissertation in May 2008 and started at the FDA as a mathematical statistician in July 2008. I will be offering a short course at the UseR! 2010 conference in Gathiersburg, MD. In addition, I work with Gary King at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science on Zelig, an open-source package and teaching tool for R. Please feel free to contact me!
