Dr. Olta Totoni holds a PhD from the School of Global Affairs (formerly the Department of European Languages and Cultures) at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. She is the inventor of alienese translation, an innovative form of translation inspired by two British authors—Anthony Burgess and George Orwell.

Her academic background includes British and American Studies and an MSc in Intercultural and Touristic Language and Communication. For over a decade, Dr. Totoni served as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Tirana, where she taught and conducted research in English as a Foreign Language. She also served as Instructor/IPLA Evaluator at Empire State University (USA).

Recognized for her literary and scholarly contributions, Dr. Totoni is featured in PeoplePill’s list of notable figures in literature (New York). She is the author of Diary of Time, a bilingual collection of her published articles. Her translation of British literature and continued advocacy for intercultural understanding have earned her recognition in several international circles.

Her contribution to the Esperanto Symposium—an ILEI speech dedicated to Anthony Burgess—has been noted in several Esperanto publications, including Esperanto (Netherlands), La Lampiro (Brazil), Informilo por Interlingvistoj (Issue 125, Netherlands), Aktoj de la Simpozioj de ILEI (Edistudio, Italy), and the FIPLV Newsletter (France).
