His current research interest straddles the Sino-Afro relationship, the political economy of development, rising economic disparities, deliberative democracy, imperceptible discrimination, securities of human rights, hybrid warfare, supply chain management, corruption, information technology and artificial intelligence.

In his spare time, Olúwáṣeun volunteers with organizations working on issues of social inequalities and injustices. He believes that much more than seeking redress and justice for discriminations that equity-deserving groups experience, they are also entitled to have their experience dignified.

For us to have a truly just world, Olúwáṣeun believes that we all must unceasingly question existing norms, query available statistics, and incessantly cross-examine our belief system, for somewhere in there, is the jailer keeping our dreams of a truly equitable and just world captive."
