Omar Vulpinari

Omar Vulpinari is a transdisciplinary and crossmedia creative director and innovation lab leader dedicating to social change, culture and business globally. He is also a university professor in communication design.

Vulpinari commits to the areas of humanitarian concern, health, public interest and to the industries of art, film, tv, music, design, fashion, publishing, tourism, museums, sports, etc.. He collaborates in the development of unconventional strategies for connected branding and advertising, for awareness raising and behavior change campaigns, for guerilla marketing tactics, online participatory games and initiatives, mobile applications, editorial projects and community co-design.

Vulpinari has a distinguished experience in leadership and strategic/creative direction for research and innovation labs.
From 1998 to 2013 at Fabrica, the Benetton research center, Vulpinari directed the Expanded Media Area and the Visual Communication Department heading numerous multidisciplinary groups of artists, designers and technologists in exploring new forms of communication and creativity related to Internet and mobile authorship, interactive spaces and products, emergent media-related retail and performance.

Since 2005 he is an adjunct professor at the IUAV University of Venice in San Marino holding the Communication Design 3 Lab focusing on social impact and experimental crossmedia expressions.

From 2007 to 2012 he was Vice President ICOGRADA.
From 2009 to 2012 he was Founding Editorial Director of Iridescent (The ICOGRADA Journal of Design Research) and Co-Editor of the ICOGRADA Design Education Manifesto 2011, that had the objective to define and share the organization’s vision of the future of design education.
