Omar's Corner
Omar is a very dynamic, driven Interior Design student at the Ahliyya Amman University. He is a very outgoing and social individual, he is also a competitive risk-taker. His main passion is exploring the functionalities and beauties of design, and offering a unique, out-of-the-box view to the local interior design scene. He worked at a local tea bar, Turtle Green, for two months to study how the décor, colors and surroundings of a public place can either positively or negatively affect customers’ mood and reactions. He is also very interested in social media and the role it can play in creating a culture of sharing, building loyalty and changing perceptions. In addition, Omar is an aspiring entrepreneur; he is the Co-Founder and Chief Community Manager of “WTF Amman”, a social media platform where people can express their complaints on any practices, habits or behaviors they do not like about Amman. The aim of this project was to show Jordanian youth how they can create a successful and highly active social media portal with minimal cost. It only cost $10. Omar is also the Co-Founder of BiWiz, a local social media and design agency which aims at achieving creativity in the local artwork and design market by providing innovative communication and marketing tools. Thus, Omar is committed to encouraging and inspiring other young people to start their own businesses and explore their creativity outside an office environment. Born on December 16th 1988 in Kuwait, Omar is the third child in a family of four. Being the only boy among three sisters, he struggled with his parents’ expectations and was put under a lot of pressure; however, being raised in a feminine atmosphere helped him become more caring person and a good listener. During the Gulf War, his family was forced to leave Kuwait and settle in Jordan, which was a challenging experience. His father works in real-estate, and his mother is a house wife, they both lived they’re whole life in Kuwait and were neighbors. Although Omar comes from a religious family and was raised in a conservative home, he is a liberal who does not believe in religion but rather in having personal morals and following an ethical code. As a child, he was a passionate athlete, but without enough support, he drifted apart from his childhood dream of becoming a professional basketball player.
