Omar Parrilla

Musician in Fort Worth, Texas

Listen to my music

Omar Parrilla has gained the attention of the music scene through his great tone and performance on the electric guitar. He has a master's in jazz studies from The University of Texas at Arlington, where he studied with Dallas Symphony Artist Chris DeRose-Chiffolo and Thomas Burchill. In his native country, he attended The Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, studying under renowned artists such as Ito Serrano, Dr. Issac Lausell, and Osvaldo Lopez.

His story in music began with virtuoso Fernando Lopez, who guided him with patience during his first years. Richie Morales motivated him to apply more improvisation to his playing, but Dr. Issac Lausell made the harder push, encouraging Omar to pursue a degree in music.
His work as a sideman for virtuoso sax players Jorge Vizcarrondo and Dr. Oliver Santana was a major factor in his musical development. This helped him to earn a reputation that led him to work on stage or in the studio with different artists. He has mastered the guitar despite his right-hand condition. His style is a combination of George Benson and Paul Jackson Jr.
In 2012 Omar recorded “Mi Regalo,” an instrumental/easy listening compilation of traditional Christmas carols with different styles of arrangements and world rhythms. Omar maintains an active career playing in many different music venues in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.
