Omer Sander

At a very young age I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I knew it was Business. In the past two years I've focused this goal. I have jumped into every oportunity on campus.

The summer of 2013 was a very eye opening one. I was able to spend the summer interning for an Import/export company in Hiafa, a major city in Northern Israel. Israel, the home to the most start-ups in the world was an amazing place to spend the summer. This company, Dynamic Shipping Services, only has six full time employees, each of which accepted me with open arms. I jumped right into the 2 month program and began working with representatives from the European Commission and the European Union in pursuing small scale natural gas throughout Europe. This was especially exciting at a crucial time when Noble Energy (NYSE $NBL) had recently discovered two offshore Natural gas fields off the coast of Israel. I arranged meetings with Noble executives, Israeli-European Union representatives, and experts in the European Commission's drive to "Horizon 2020," (their program for fewer emissions and more efficient energy sources).

On Campus, at UMass, I am the Business Manager of the Massachusetts Daily Collegian, one of the only completely student run organizations. I oversee the production of a Monday-Thursday printed paper to UMass and the greater Amherst community. It has always been important for me to be in a position of growth and advancement. The Collegian represents one of the few on-campus organizations that enables students to rise up in the ranks through hard work and the building of relationships.

My other major activity on campus is in the Minuteman Equity Fund. We are a fund that invests over $180,000 is equities with a 3-5 year outlook. This fall (2013) is my second semester in the fund. Last Spring, I worked with my Lead Analyst in researching stocks in the Financials sector. This fall we're focusing on the Basic Materials Sector. I look forward to next semester to becoming a Lead Analyst myself.
