Omoruyi “Uyilaw” Edoigiawerie is the founder and Chief servant at Edoigiawerie and Company LP (EandC Legal) Nigeria’s foremost Startup Law firm. A leading Startup Attorney and Notary Public of Nigeria, he has extensive experience in Startup, technology, and innovation law, with expertise in artificial intelligence, and corporate commercial legal practice. Uyilaw’s expertise in tech and innovation law is borne out of a strong startup background, combined with a rare understanding of contemporary technology, the startup landscape in Nigeria and the African region, as well as international best practices.

Omoruyi has contributed impactfully to the growth of the Nigerian Startup Ecosystem. He served actively in the policy and legal drafting team and Strategy and communications committee of the Nigeria Startup Bill which today has been passed as the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA). He is presently an Ecosystem Advisor at the Nigerian Startup Act Secretariat and Legal lead/Advisor State Engagement Team of the NSA established to help States adopt and contextualize the Startup Act through enacting their State Startup Laws. As a matter of fact, Omoruyi led the team that drafted the Model Startup Law for States to adopt across the country.

He is Member of the Nigerian Bar Association where he chairs the Membership and Data Management Committee of the Lagos Branch which is Nigeria’s largest Bar Association Branch.

Christened “the legal architect of Innovation in Nigeria who is redefining the startup legal landscape, by The Guardian newspaper, Omoruyi is a recipient of the 40 under 40 Nigerian Rising Star Award for legal excellence and most recently Managing Partner of the Year Award by the Nigerian Legal Awards.

So far, he has helped establish over 1000 companies and today through the Uyilaw platform across different social media platforms, over 100,000 African entrepreneurs have been reached and have direction on how to build and run successful and impactful startups.
