Matt Starr has extensive experience as an academic coordinator, actively identifying and resolving student needs as quickly and effectively as possible. As an Academic Coordinator for the Family Youth & Community Sciences Graduate Programs, Matt proactively reaches out to new and future students to help them through the admissions process and aid them throughout their time as a student at the University of Florida.
Matt was elected Trustee of Plainfield Township in Illinois on April 9, 2013. Prior to that, he was elected to serve as Tax Collector from 2009-2013, becoming the youngest elected official in Plainfield Township’s history at the age of 21. He has been recognized by the Association of Illinois Township Committees On Youth (AITCOY), receiving the Friend of Youth award in 2011, and the Youth Organization Award in 2012. He received an M.A. in National Security Studies and also holds a B.A. in Political Science. He is passionate about the benefits of education for both individuals and their communities.
