To start the meal, On Occasion Ltd. offers both hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, such as crostini topped with mozzarella, Brooklyn Salvatore ricotta and heirloom tomoto jam, cheeseburger in a spring roll with sweet and spicy ketchup, miniature crab cakes served with a lemon tartar sauce, Reuben fritters with Russian dressing, filet of beef on French bread with horseradish sauce, and Parmesan crisps topped with sliced egg, sour cream and caviar. On Occasion Ltd. follows with a first course, usually consisting of a salad, such as radicchio and romaine with golden and red beets, blue cheese and walnuts or a pan roasted pear with honey, hazelnuts and stilton served on a bed of arugula. Small plates feature options like mini salmon burgers with fries, roasted halibut on a bed of smashed purple potatoes with leeks, or its New Orleans plate consisting of chicken and sausage jambalaya, shrimp Creole in a miniature corn cup and a hushpuppy. The main course comes next and generally features a beef, chicken, fish, or vegetarian entrée, as well as an accompaniment like butternut squash chunks with apples, haricot vert with red, yellow and orange pepper stars, or wild rice with leeks and dried cranberries.
