Chi Yan Ooi, PhD

Biomedical researcher / scientist / molecular biologist by training. Influenced by a number of cancerous deaths among relatives and exposure to stories of cancer patients and their immediate family members published in the mass media during my teenage years, I have great interest in cancer. After conducting more than four years of PhD research in the molecular and cell biology of the childhood cancer neuroblastoma, I am looking for a career that can take me beyond academic postdoc.

My passion is to create real world impact through science and technology. I welcome opportunities in science / medical communication (e.g., medical writer or medical science liaison), research commercialization and business development, entrepreneurship, R&D (e.g., research scientist or research officer), project / product management, clinical trial / research, application scientist / specialist or life science venture capital, with the aspiration to undertake a part-time MBA degree in the future. I'm keen to be involved in turning science into actual products and services, such as drugs and diagnostics, that will benefit patients, especially those suffering from cancer. I seek to be based in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong / China or Europe, and do not mind the need for air travel to other locations to perform my job.
