Optics Sourcing

United States of America

Optics-Sourcing was founded to simplify the process of identifying qualified vendors for optical manufacturing. The company includes experienced optical industry professionals with decades of optical product design experience and who know how hard it can be to find right manufacturing vendors to make your lens.

Some optics and lens vendors specialize plastic molding, glass molding, imaging optics, illumination optics, grinding and polishing, lens assembly, extrusions, or micro optics. Only a few will have the skills needed to make your part with a price point and quality you require.

Optics- sourcing works with vendors in the United States, Europe and Asia. They have been selected for their expertise in specific production methods and volumes. There is no cost to users.

  • A user submits basic information about your application, part drawings, or catalog item numbers, then a propriety algorithm determines which vendors are likely to be a good fit.
  • Documents and drawings are shared only with vendors qualified to build your parts.
  • After a match has been made vendors will communicate their pricing offers directly to site users
  • Optics are used in hundreds of applications in two different broad categories imaging, and non imaging or lighting.

Imaging applications include products such as cameras, microscope objectives, zoom lenses, confocal Imaging, autofocus lenses, night vision, UV, IR, underwater, immersive, wide angle, 360 degree, scan lenses, relay lenses, smart phone cameras, satellite imaging, 3D imaging, LIDAR, endoscopes, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, medical devices and many others

Lighting and non imaging, products include, home and office lighting, commercial illumination flashlights, roadway lighting, medical dental lighting, lightpipes, projectors, automotive and airplane lighting, medical lasers, high power industrial lasers and many more.

Each of these types of products will have different manufacturing requirements, based on precision, volume, cost and delivery time.

Some of the primary projection methods include

  • Grinding and polishing glass
  • Injection molding plastic
  • Injection molding glass
  • Diamond turning plastic
  • 3D printing

Each of these can be further segmented based on high quality, commercial quality or low quality
