Student, Teacher, and Volunteer in Johannesburg

I am Oreneile Maribatze, a 3rd year student at UJ, currently based in Johannesburg. I was born with a passion for nurturing young minds, hence I embarked on a journey of becoming a teacher with a profound belief in the transformative power of education. Growing up in the villages, I was drawn to literature and storytelling from an early age fostering the love for reading. This passion shaped my academic pursuits and influenced my teaching philosophy.

Outside of academia, I find joy in the kitchen. Whether it’s experimenting with new baking recipes or cooking savoury dishes, cooking provides me with a creative outlet that parallels my teaching philosophy. Just as every dish needs a balance of ingredients, I see teaching as a blend of patience, empathy, and knowledge, each element contributes to the growth of my learners.

I also find joy in bible reading drawing strength and wisdom from its teachings. In my free time I like watching reality Tv shows, where narratives unfold and personalities shine😊.

Recently I decided to be a tutor in my spare time. Philosophically I subscribe to the idea that education extends beyond the classroom walls hence I tutor learners in their own pace but most importantly I get a chance to interact with them on a one on one environment where they feel safe and are allowed to explore diverse perspectives.
