Rosalind Franklin
Rosalind Franklin
My name is Rosalind Franklin. I was borne in London, England the 25th of July 1920. I start to love the science when i was 15 years, thats why i study physics and chemistry.
I went to the St Paul's Girl's School, at London, this was the place in the one i discover that i love science and i see my great talent at physics and chemistry. When i finish i went to Newnham Collage, Cambridge in 1938. After my graduation at 1941, i was called for do a research, it was a research scholarship in the one we will work on gas chromatography. I go way to the British Coal Research Association in 1942. I work in the microstructure of the coke. After finish this research i was called for join to another research group created by John Randall. For this group i was called for study the DNA fibers, by using X-ray, something good for this research group wast that i used all my knowledge of physical chemistry. My result was, that i made thinner fibers in order to produce a more exact and easier to interpret the X-ray pattern.
I discovered the A and B forms of DNA, on the A form of the DNA i saw more X-ray spots, and this does not show the "helical" structure as the B form, which its originally thought of as a ladder with bonds between the bases of the rungs, in the notebook that i used for this experiment it says the the 24th of February 1953 i see a three dimensional helix.
I was nominated to a Nobel Prize because of my discover, but i couldn't go because i died in 1958 at the age of 37 because of ovarian cancer.
