Orlin Dochev
Orlin Dochev was born on 4th of July, in Shoumen. Holds a degree in “Journalism and Mass- communications” from Varna Free University. He’s been involved with music since his early teenage years. In 1985, along with his close friend Petar Petrov (guitar) and Rosen Kostadinov (drums), Orlin (bass) formed a band named “Snimka”, which in 1990 was renamed into “Osobeno Mnenie”, and existed till 1997. Since 1985 Orlin has composed, written, and performed more than 20 songs. He’s a member of UBC (Union of the Bulgarian Composers). One of the most memorable milestones in Orlin Dochev’s career was the date 1st of Dec 1998, when, during a birthday celebration of the 4th year of Radio Forte, he and his friend Stancho Stanchev (ex “DVX”) spontaneously decided to form a duet, named “Stanioli”. “Stanioli” later evolved in a band, which kept the name. Soon after this event the duet recorded their first single “Lolita’s dance” (music & lyrics Orlin Dochev, harmonization Momchil Kolev), which carried the typical-to-be for the duet “guitar-puls” sound and later became their sound signature. The single became their first commercial success and paved their way to wide popularity and recognition. That’s exactly the song with which they topped the music charts in 1999, as “BG Top 10”, “Radio Vitosha’s Top”, “FM Top”, “BNT Tops: “MeloTvMania” & “Melo-asansior”, etc. In the magazine “New Rhythm”, the musical critic Ivaylo Kitsov named Stanioli “The new eggheads of the Bulgarian Pop-music”. The quick success was soon followed by many invitations for performances in leading capital clubs, along with their friends Miroslav Ivanov (guitars) (ex “Safo” & Stoyan Koprinkov (drums) (Tornado). Due to some restrictions posed by the band’s producers at the time, “Prima” Agency, the band’s live performances soon had been stopped. There was never given a reasonable explanation why “Prima” had decided to ban the band live performances, especially after the total triumph followed the release of Stanioli’s second single “Train station for two”. No matter the misunderstandings between the band and their producers, Stanioli recorded many other hits, loved by a whole generation, like: “There is” , “Run”, “Wink at Me”, etc. The band’s first studio album was released in 2001 and “Wink at Me” became a number-one hit in Bulgaria (BG Radio’s “Ours 20”) in 2003. Many friends, fans and representatives from the musical media were present at the special event for the release of the first album
