Mustafa Ornek

Hi Everyone,

I am a PhD candidate on Health Policy, specializing in Health Economics at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.

My dissertation has three chapters on body mass index. The first chapter is on making the most out of the height and weight data in the survey data sets. The second is a cross-country examination of body mass index distributions of the representative populations of Canada and the US. The last chapter is on the cost of obesity. Other than these, I am involved in other research projects as well.

Although right now I mostly read academic journal articles, economics and health policy are not the only topics I enjoy to read. History, science and philosophy are also up there on the list. I don't usually read fiction, but when I do they are most likely to be written by Umberto Eco or Orhan Pamuk.

I love travelling whenever I have a chance . I like camping (used to be a boy scout), hiking and snorkeling.
