Since the start of his career, Semerci has lived and worked in several countries and developed a wealth of international financial experience, specializing in emerging markets, real estate, and private equity investments. He is regarded as a financial investment expert; listed by Financial News as one of the top 100 in European finance (2007) and No. 1 Capital Market Banker (2005), and featured among the Top 40 Under 40 in European Business, by Business Magazine (2006).

Education & Early Career

Born and educated in Istanbul, Osman Semerci graduated from the Bogazici University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He went on to complete his education at Marmara University where he specialised in Contemporary Business Management. Post-Graduate Degree in hand, Semerci started his career in finance working as an equity trader and portfolio manager for Turkinvest.

Merrill Lynch

In 1992 Semerci began a 16-year tenure at Merrill Lynch, where he worked principally in derivatives and fixed income investments in European emerging markets. After 10 years with the firm, Semerci was appointed Head of the Fixed Income Trading Department in Pacific Rim, and relocated to Tokyo where he gained experience covering Japan, Australia, and Asia. In 2006 he became Global Head of Fixed Income, Commodities, and Currencies (FICC), and subsequently Co-President of Global Markets and Investment Banking in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as a member of the Merrill Lynch Global Operating Committee.

Global Finance Entrepreneur

Semerci founded EMEA Capital, a privately held investment company focused on real-estate, financial markets and private equity, in 2008. However, he only joined the firm as Managing Partner in 2011. Between 2008 and 2011 he served as CEO and Managing Partnerof global alternative asset firm Duet Group.
