osman moro
Tamale northern region
Mr. Moro Osman is a native of Langbinsi in the northern region of Ghana. As a young man born on 15th of May, 1962, having little education but without any hand work apart from farming, Mr. Moro Osman decided to go into basket weaving in addition to the farming which he started.
Mr. Moro Osman went to Bolgatanga in the upper east region where he learnt and became the best basket weaver. He became so interested in the basket weaving that he decided to quit the farming due to the infertile nature of the land. As a master basket weaver, Mr. Moro Osman decided to return to his hometown to help his people. He did this by forming groups to train the people under the sponsorship of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) in Tamale and Gambaga District Assembly. Mr. Moro Osman continues to teach and train basket weaving to the people in the community who were interested and had no other opportunity to develop skills apart from farming. Doing this as a trade would enable the widows and the disables in the community to get their daily bread.
