Many cultures and places say that hair holds memories. My holds memories from every point in my life. It holds the memories from when I first moved from North Carolina to Georgia and the memories from my family trips to Mexico. My brightest moment however, is the moment I realized that this new chapter in front of me was full of opportunities. I remember the moment I decided to major in political science and international affairs knowing that I wanted to go into law. Much of the memories I hold dear to me are ones full of laughter with my friends or memories with my bulldog max. I come from a long like of Mexican and Haitian women with full heads of hair and was often told how our hair is like a net of emotions. I was raised speaking both Spanish and English has helped me connect with so many different people and communities. Apart from emotions my hair has seen me through all my thirteen years of school and seen me through my lifeguarding jobs I’ve had since sophomore year of high school. Looking back, every strand of my hair holds a memory, a lesson, or a moment that’s shaped me. It’s a reminder of where I’ve been and the endless possibilities ahead.
