Oussa Bossa is a Bossa Nova trio based out of El Paso, Texas. Musicians Amalia Castro, Hector Olea, and Edd Ramos began arranging and performing together after noticing a thirst for a new jazz sound within El Paso's music scene. Through the exquisite vocals of the group's founder, Amalia Castro, Oussa Bossa performs a variety of jazz standards and relies on a heavy Brazilian influence for its sound; seamlessly tying-in blues and groove beats. Perhaps most impressively, Oussa Bossa does not shy away from traditional and well-loved rancheras – but adds a bossa nova flavor. Members of Oussa Bossa have been part of several local, national, and international projects to include Fabulaa, Fuga!, La Caravana, Frontera Bugalu, The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Sonido Cachimbo, Grau Jazz, and Layali Al Sham. Additionally, members of Oussa Bossa have opened for big acts to include Calle 13 and Panteon Rococo. Due to the group's unique and thriving sound, Oussa Bossa has been featured on KTEP.
