Mine Hunter
Mine Hunter
Howdy, and thanks for visiting! I am a weekend explorer and lover of the mountains. Many, many years ago I got bit by the bug of searching for old hard rock mines up in the Central Cascade Mountains. My goal at the time was to get off the coach, throw on my pack, and go try to re-discover some of the lost history, places and things hidden in the woods. In other words, to just get “Out There!” and hopefully get some exercise to boot.
Well, that was over a decade ago, and since that time I have visited many mines and mine-related sites in the mountains. Some were very easy to find and get to, while others rose to the level of almost insanity trying to get to them. I have a laundry list of sites I want to visit yet, and some I may never be able to ’cause I’m not getting any younger!
Over the years I came to realize that all the history of the mines, the railroads, logging operations, roads, towns, and boundaries are inexplicitly and forever linked together. So to fully understand one, one must study all. That is why I added railroading and logging history to my ever-expanding hobby.
In reality, the more I find out about the history of our area, the more questions I end up asking. It’s a never-ending pursuit of knowledge, and I fully realize (even in 10+ years of doing this) that I have merely scratched the surface of what’s out there, and the information available.
That being said, I will endeavor to share what I have found out so others can enjoy the information, data, and pictures gathered.
Again, thank you for visiting, and if you have a moment, please leave a note of your visit. Thanks, and Enjoy!
