I was born and raised in Chicago, IL and have had the pleasure of growing up in one of the most diverse atmospheres in terms of culture, industry, and climate. Polar vortex coming? No problem! 100+ degree heat? Bring it on!
I believe that through personal experience and your willingness to leap out of your comfort zone, you acquire the skills and characteristics that scream "YOU ARE AN AWESOME PERSON!"
This attitude and outlook on life has been with me ever since I can remember. Having been gifted a number of unique experiences opportunities I feel very fortunate to have arrived to where I am today. As with every story, it has to start somewhere...
Born 8 weeks premature and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy by the age of 2, I had a choice to make: Either I submit to the stereotypes of being 'disabled' or I exert every effort possible to overcome obstacles I am presented with and continue moving forward.
Fortunately, I chose the latter and never looked back.
Fast forward to the present, I enjoy spending my off days bouncing around the world exploring different places and learning different languages. I am also building on my proficiency as a Ruby on Rails developer. As an adult growing up with a physical disability, programming is one of the things I have been able to feel a true sense of accomplishment and contribution. It's a field where it doesn't matter how old you are, whether or not you have a disability, or the level of education you completed.
All you need is a computer and the desire to build amazing, life-changing software. With these few items, you have the potential to help hundreds, thousands, even millions of people! This is exactly what I intend to do and hopefully in the process, I can inspire others to do the same.
