Detroit born Overton Loyd has been creating fine art since childhood. His cover design for the 1977 Parliament album “MOTOR BOOTY AFFAIR” launched a lifelong collaboration with Parliament/Funkadelic founder George Clinton, who's music and theatrics are considered to be the D.N.A. of Hip Hop and Urban Contemporary culture. As Creative Director for Clinton, Loyd’s graphics skillfully retranslates P-Funk's musical swagger into all forms of new media.

His animated video for "Atomic Dog," in 1982 won the "Best Use of Computer Graphics" award from Billboard Magazine. Loyd’s signature style is referred to in Art circles as “Funk Aesthetic", or "Bop Art".

L.A. artist/publisher John Carr says, "I'd put him in the same category as a jazz virtuoso or your favorite hip-hop MC - crazy improvisation and freestyle while delivering a tightly crafted message. His drawings and paintings ARE jazz, ARE funk, ARE hip-hop."

Overton Loyd stands for the possibility that art can ignite a breakthrough in communication, allow us to shift our consciousness, embrace our humanity and access the eternal.

“Transform the Norm”.
